Daniel Straus was the Bellator season 4 featherweight runner-up and is considered to be one of the early favorites to win the upcoming season tournament. Straus started out his MMA career at just 4-3, but has since gone 13-1 overall. Straus jumped onto the map in 2011 when he faced off with fellow prospect Nazareno Malegarie in the 1st round of the Bellator featherweight tournament. Malegarie was 19-0 coming into the fight, but Straus used his long jab and wrestling to grind out a unanimous decision. Staus moved on to submit Kenny Foster, earning him a spot in the finals opposite Patricio “Pitbull” Freire. The fight with Freire was close throughout, but Straus lost via unanimous decision. Staus collected a win over Jason Dent on the independent circuit and looks primed at another run in Bellator’s upcoming featherweight tournament. Straus is a physical specimen as he is a huge featherweight. Straus relies heavily on his wrestling and size, but has proven to be quite diverse in doing what it takes to win fights.
