Gilbert Melendez was probably one round away from winning the UFC Lightweight championship. Now, he has to play the, “what if?” game as he tries to put together a win streak and hopefully contend for the title in 2014. He is fresh off a Fight of the Year performance against Diego Sanchez, and is likely one impressive win away from another title shot . Should Josh Thomson unseat current champion Anthony Pettis, a 4th bout against his former Strikeforce nemesis could be on the horizon.
