Matt Hamill stunningly announced his retirement in 2011 following consecutive losses. Hamill built a successful UFC career, propelled by his appearance on season 3 of The Ultimate Fighter. Despite being deaf, Hamill was a quick learner, building a 6-2 UFC record, his only losses coming to Rich Franklin and a controversial decision defeat to Michael Bisping. Hamill was nearing contender status after knocking out Mark Munoz, but struggled to maintain his momentum as he dropped bouts to Quinton Jackson and Alexander Gustafsson. Hamill is the only man to have defeated Jon Jones, though the win was due to disqualification. Hamill’s career only spanned 14-fights, but he is already 35 years old and the likelihood of him ever returning looks questionable.
