10 Best MMA Flyweight Prospects of 2014
#6: Dileno Lopes
Dileno Lopes unsuccessfully tried out for TUF Brazil 1, having come just a few seconds away from stopping eventual TUF Champion Rony Jason. Most fans did not know that Lopes was moving up two weight classes for an opportunity to fight on the show. Lopes earned a ton of respect from most around the Brazilian MMA world, especially considering Rony Jason’s continued success in the UFC. Lopes may have let the hype get to his head though as his career has stagnated since then. He’s pulled out of a few fights, including missing weight. He also suffered his first career loss in 2013 to Adriano Moraes. Lopes has an elite level submission game to accompany his powerful hands. He is very patient, and once he closes the distance, he explodes with ferocity, usually hunting for the takedown and immediately looking for his trademark guillotine.
