10 Best MMA Flyweight Prospects of 2014
#3: Adriano Moraes
Adriano “Black Diamond” Moraes currently fights under the One FC banner where he recently submitted former UFC fighter Yasuhiro Urushitani. Moraes hails from Brazil, and currently trains with the Constrictor Team, which is home to Rani Yahya and featherweight prospect Renato “Moicano” Carneiro. Moraes is 10-1 overall with a 70% finishing rate (3 KO/4 SUB). Moraes drew some acclaim for his 2013 TKO victory over TUF Brazil 1 contestant and fellow Top 10 Flyweight prospect Dileno Lopes in the Shooto Brazil promotion. Moraes’ only loss came in 2013 as he moved up a weight class to fight Yusup Saadulaev in his One FC debut. Moraes is a massive Flyweight. At 5’8, he uses his superior reach to establish the distance on the feet. Moraes is a somewhat patient striker, though he will explode with flying knees when the opportunity presents itself. Moraes has also proven to be a capable wrestler with excellent top control.
