#7: Giovanni “Soldado” Santos

Another TUF Brazil 1 contestant makes my Top 10 list of Flyweight Prospects. Giovanni “Soldado” da Silva, similar to Dileno Lopes, moved up two weight classes to try out for the groundbreaking show. Unfortunately, Soldado was matched up with one of the biggest fighters trying out, John Teixeira. Teixeira showed throughout the season that he was a very talented fighter, so there should be little shame that Soldado came up short. Since that time, Soldado has steadily proven that he is one of the top Flyweights in Brazil. He recently got some much-needed exposure by fighting in the Jungle Fight promotion where he submitted his opponent in the very 1st round. Soldado has made it known that he wants to fight the best Flyweights in Brazil to prove he is ready for the UFC. He had fights fall out with Dileno Lopes and Jungle Fight champion Rayner Silva over the last year, but he may end up getting his wish as he’s agreed to face Leandro Higo.
