10 Best MMA Bantamweight Prospects of 2014
#8: Anthony Birchak
Anthony Birchak at 11-1 overall is likely on his way to the UFC once his MFC contract expires. Birchak is a sparkplug of a fighter that is capable of winning fights on the feet or the ground. He’s currently on a 5-fight win streak, having won the vacant MFC Bantamweight title in his most recent bout. Prior to his title win, Birchak was involved in a back-and-forth war against current UFC Flyweight Ryan Benoit. Birchak’s only career loss came as a Featherweight when he traveled to Brazil to face veteran Jorge Clay. Birchak has improved since that loss, but he still puts himself in some precarious situations that have nearly gotten him stopped. Birchak is capable of putting on some Fight of the Night performances if he signs with the UFC, but his success will ultimately come down to whether he can use his wrestling against the elite of the division. He is certainly on his way towards proving that.
