10 Best MMA Bantamweight Prospects of 2014
#3: Thomas de Almeida
I would be shocked if Thomas de Almeida does not sign with the UFC by the end of 2014. Almeida is an impressive 16-0 overall with every single one of those wins coming via finish. Almeida currently fights under the Legacy FC banner in the UFC, though he also competes on the Brazilian regional circuit on occasion. Almeida trains out of Chute Boxe and Macaco Gold Team, which is also home to UFC fighters Charles Oliveira and Lucas Martins. Almeida is an explosive striker with deadly accuracy in his punches. He’s always willing to take a few shots to dish out his own punishment, and though he’s been badly hurt in a few of his recent fights, he always seems to find a way to storm back and win via knockout. Almeida’s takedown defense could be a concern when he eventually moves on to the UFC, but he should be ready to make an impact in the UFC Bantamweight division.
