Raphael Assuncao looked to be at a crossroads in his career coming off his devastating KO loss to Erik Koch in 2011. He was 1-3 in his last 4 fights and looked to be on the brink of being released by the UFC, but Assuncao turned his fortunes around by deciding to drop down a weight class where he has since run off 5 straight victories. The Bantamweight division is fairly thin on potential title contenders, so one more win might push Assuncao into a title fight opposite Renan Barao in Brazil.
