UFC 180 Predictions

After watching TUF: Latin America, I feel fairly confident in knowing some of the unknown fighters on the card. The toughest fights to pick on this card for me were Bermudez vs. Lamas, Montano vs. Heatherly, Urbina vs. Garcia, and Briones vs. Cannetti.

If I had to make a couple of lock picks, it would be Quinones and Benitez. Quinones already fought his opponent twice before. Meanwhile, Benitez was one of the favorites to win TUF: Latin America, and he has pretty much a gimme fight against Humberto Brown.

In the main event, Werdum is just too well-rounded for Hunt. Hunt’s always capable of ending the fight with one punch, but the odds are stacked against him. In the co-main, Gastelum is facing a former title contender in Jake Ellenberger. Gastelum barely squeaked out a decision over Rick Story, but I feel like he will show he will shine on the big stage here in Mexico. The UFC is looking to push Gastelum to stardom, and I believe UFC matchmaker Joe Silva booked this fight with Ellenberger because he truly believes Gastelum can win. Also, on the main card, I believe Bermudez and Montano will both be able to withstand the wrestling of their respective opponents.

For the TUF: Latin America finals, I already mentioned that Quinones should be the favorite to win the Bantamweight portion, while I have Yair Rodriguez taking home a submission win over the undersized, yet very talented Leonardo Morales.
