Rankings Update (December 26)

Merry Christmas to all of our faithful readers. All rankings have been updated. There was not a whole lot of action this holiday weekend, though some MMA prospects were in action.

Biggest Winners
Darrell Montague
Montague picked up a win over former top-ranked flyweight Mamoru Yamaguchi. Montague picked up a tough decision victory and now seems to be destined for a spot in the UFC. Montague deserves his call up to the big leagues as there are little remaining challenges in the Flyweight division outside of the UFC.
Ildemar Alcantara
Ildemar Alcantara, brother of UFC bantamweight Yuri Alcantara, picked up a big win over Itamar Rosa in the Jungle Fights promotion. Ildemar had looked like a fringe prospect over his last few fights, but this weekend he showed off his striking abilities and seems to be a legit prospect should he sign with the UFC or Bellator. Alcantara would likely need to cut down to 170 lbs. should he sign with a major promotion.
Kyoji Horiguchi
Horiguchi picked up a marquee win over former UFC veteran Ian Loveland. Horiguchi seems UFC-ready, though a move to the flyweight division would likely be required.
Biggest Losers
Tony Lopez
Lopez once again bounced around weight divisions, this time competing as a light heavyweight against veteran Trevor Prangley. Lopez ended up losing a technical decision, which drops his record to just 1-2 in his last 3 fights. Lopez has continually struggled at 205 lbs. due to his lack of wrestling and overall physical tools. Lopez would be considered one of the top heavyweight prospects, but he has failed to attract a contract offer from the UFC, Bellator, or WSOF.
