Patrick Cote vs. Kalib Starnes

Former UFC middleweight title contender Patrick Cote(13-7) will make his return to the Canadian independent scene as he faces UFC-exiled fighter Kalib Starnes(11-5-1) according to Sherdog.

Cote(#39 ranked MW) was dismissed from the UFC following two straight losses. Cote returned from an 18-month layoff due to a knee injury suffered in his title fight with Anderson Silva at UFC 90. Cote’s quickness seemed to suffer from the time away from the octagon, so he will return back to his native Canada where he’s compiled a 9-0 record outside of the octagon.

Kalib Starnes debacle at UFC 83 against Nate Quarry is well-chronicled. Even a popular MMA site has been devoted to his name. Starnes is solid on the ground and considering Cote’s last 2 losses have been via submission, he has a decent shot at pulling off the upset.
