Mark Munoz vs. C.B. Dollaway
Fast-rising Mark Munoz(9-2) will face fellow prospect C.B. Dollaway(11-2) at UFC on Versus 3 according to MMAweekly.
Munoz made a smart career decision dropping down to 185. His only loss at middleweight was to 3rd ranked Yushin Okami. Munoz fights very aggressively and has a non-stop motor. His striking defense shows a lot left to be desired, but he has tremendous power in his hands. Munoz did just win a decision over Dollaway’s stable-mat Aaron Simpson.
Dollaway has choked in some previous fights that could have led to super-stardom, but he usually fights fairly smart for being just 27 years old. C.B. has not faced a wrestler like Munoz and he will be forced to rely on his limited striking skills.
It is crazy to think that both these fighters made their respective MMA debuts less than 4 years ago. They now find themselves among the elite of the 185-pound division(Munoz ranked 13th, Dollaway ranked 32nd). Munoz’s career started in the 205-pound division and he should hold not only the size advantage, but his wrestling and striking are superior to Dollaway’s. Dollaway has shown some developing submission skills though, and has proven to be a tough fight, but it looks as if Munoz is being fast-tracked towards future title contention.
