Alistair Overeem vs. Fabricio Werdum
Strikeforce, Dream, and K-1 heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem(34-11) will face a familiar nemesis, in BJJ expert Fabricio Werdum(14-4-1) at Strikeforce 33.
2nd ranked knockout machine, Alistair Overeem, has become the new cult favorite of anti-UFC fans and for good reason. Overeem has taken the combat world by storm, and surprised everyone by capturing the K-1 title in 2010.
Fabricio Werdum(ranked 4th) never gets the respect he deserves. Coming off an unthinkable upset of Fedor Emelianenko, Werdum continues to get slighted as a draw and favorite for the upcoming Strikeforce tournament.
Overeem is on an epic run as far as hype and winning streaks go, but top competition has always been a question mark for Overeem. It is difficult to compare the “new” Overeem to the “old” version that lost to Werdum years ago. Werdum has always been a survivor and will take damage in order to get the fight down to his world, which is the ground game. Unfortunately for Werdum, his 1st round loss to Junior Dos Santos is the exact same outcome I foresee happening against Overeem.
