Lyle Beerbohm vs. Pat Healy

Undefeated and underrated Lyle Beerbohm(15-0) will headline Strikeforce Challengers 14, as he faces veteran Pat Healy(23-16) according to MMAfighting.

Beerbohm, has flown under the radar, which is curious considering he holds wins over Vitor Ribeiro, Duane Ludwig, and Rafaello Oliveira. Beerbohm’s previous trials and tribulations with drugs and prison may be part of the reason Beerbohm has not been marketed as an upcoming title contender for champion Gilbert Melendez. But it’s likely more attributed to Beerbohm’s juvenile mistakes in recent months on the UG forums, such as asking for a lawyer assistance to release him from his Strikeforce contract, an affiliation with a Nazi-branded clothing company, and calling out his company for not booking him. Beerbohm is still raw as far as his skill-set and self-promotion go, but he could easily become a fan favorite due to overcoming his past demons. It’s a shame Beerbohm is not getting his due and getting a marquee name to fight.

Pat Healy’s 23-16 record is deceiving, but nonetheless, it is what it is. Healy’s cut to 155 has breathed new life into the battle-tested vet though, and he gave Josh Thomson a run for his money in his last fight. Beerbohm looks to be the heavy favorite, but he hasn’t face anyone as well-rounded as Healy, so it should make for a good matchup.
