Phil Davis vs. Matt Hamill

Two of the UFC’s brightest light heavyweight prospects will face off, as Phil Davis(8-0) clashes with Matt Hamill(10-2) at UFC 129 according to MMAjunkie.

14th ranked Phil Davis has quietly put together a 4-0 record in the octagon, as he continues to gain experience following a stellar collegiate wrestling career. Davis has flashed potential to be a future champion, should he improve his striking because his wrestling and athleticism outweigh almost every opponent in the 205-division.

Matt Hamill(ranked 16th) has made remarkable progress since appearing on The Ultimate Fighter 3. Hamill has not changed his fighting style much, but has simply become more experienced and has shown a ton of heart in facing the likes of Rich Franklin, Tito Ortiz, and Jon Jones.

Davis may actually have the advantage striking in this fight. Though he hasn’t shown an aptitude to stand with his opponents, Hamill does not have good striking defense. If that doesn’t work, Davis should have his way with Hamill on the ground. This should be a showcase fight for “Mr.Wonderful” as he breaks into the top 10.
