Quinton Jackson vs. Thiago Silva

A fight that has been on many fans’ wish lists has been signed for UFC 130, as Quinton “Rampage”Jackson(31-8) will face Thiago Silva(15-2) according to MMAjunkie.

3rd ranked former light heavyweight champion, Quinton Jackson, is back on a quest to reclaim his belt. He had previously proclaimed that he was fighting strictly for the money, but now with a renewed confidence following a close win over Lyoto Machida, Rampage knows he’s likely one win away from getting a title shot. It’s a shot he likely should of deserved immediately after losing his belt following a razor-thin 5-round fight with Forrest Griffin.

Thiago Silva(ranked 10th at LHW) is downright scary when he is going in for the kill against his opponents. He’s had one bad fight(Machida loss) that still has some fans questioning his merits as a contender, but with a developing wrestling game, combined with his bjj and KO power, the time may be right for a title run.

It’s hard not to get goosebumps just thinking about the weigh-ins and staredown leading up to this fight. Expect both to be cautious throughout the fight and then look to explode with their power shots. Both can be counter fighters at times, so it will be interesting to see who comes out swinging first. This is really a pick’em fight, so I’m going with a proven commodity against top competition, something Silva still needs to prove.

Prediction: Quinton Jackson via KO
