Donald Cerrone vs. Paul Kelly
WEC veteran and UFC newcomer Donald Cerrone(13-3) will face England’s Paul Kelly(11-3) at UFC 126 according to MMAweekly. Sam Stout was set to face Kelly, but was forced out with an injury
24th ranked lightweight Donald Cerrone is a welcome addition to the UFC’s lightweight division. The 155 division is lacking in the character department, and Cerrone brings plenty of it. He has yet to take the big step in his career regarding championships, but he has always proven to be a tough fight no matter who the adversary.
Paul Kelly(ranked 49th) relies on his emotions and tenacity more than his skill-set, which is limited at best. Kelly brings the fight, plain and simple. Some of his opponents fold under the onslaught, but if they don’t that is where Kelly finds himself in trouble. He just doesn’t have the necessary pedigree to be a title contender.
This bout has Fight of the Night written all over it. Both fighters are rarely gun-shy and they are both hungry to become contenders, which both know a victory could bring them. Overall, Kelly will have the takedown advantage, but Cerrone is crafty and I expect him to hang tough and tire Kelly out with his movement on the feet.
