Matt Grice vs. Matt Veach @ Fight Night 17, Sotiropoulos injured

George Sotiropoulos continues to struggle with injuries. Once again, he has been forced to withdraw from an upcoming fight. George was set to make his 155-debut against Matt Grice at Fight Night 17. Luckily, the UFC has found a quick replacement for Sotiropoulos as Matt Veach has quickly stepped up to fill the void.

Matt Veach trains out of Matt Hughes’ new camp, The Hit Squad. He has compiled a 10-0 record thus far, yet has not face a top-tier opponent. Veach has a solid grappling background and has finished 4 of his opponents via his favorite submission hold, the rear naked choke.

As mentioned above, Veach has not faced an opponent as talented as Matt Grice. Grice brings in his own respective wrestling skills that has thus far guided him to a 1-1 record inside the octagon. Grice’s sole career loss came to Terry Etim, though Grice was dominating the bout throughout he eventually got caught in a submission. Grice left the UFC for over a year in order to work his way through the police academy. He may have some dust to shake off. He had previously asked the UFC if he could rack up a few wins in smaller promotions and then return, but for some reason those plans were scrapped even though Grice received approval.
