Patrick Cote out until 2010

* Update: Patrick Cote will have to undergo surgery once again on his knee. Cote will require MCL surgery, which is supposed to sideline him until early 2010. It’s an unfortunate setback Cote, considering that his name was involved in rumors surrounding marquee fights with Michael Bisping and Wanderlei Silva.

——————————————————————————

Patrick Cote will not be stepping into the octagon for quite some time. As feared, Cote will have to undergo surgery for a torn meniscus, which requires 6-8 months of rehab and recovery. His return will therefore, be estimated for June 2009. Cote’s knee buckled during his title fight with Anderson Silva at UFC 90. During the first minute of Round 3, Cote went to plant and his knee finally gave way. Cote collapsed in pain and the title bout was effectively finished. Cote was dealing with the injury during the weeks leading up to the bout and re-aggravated it during the 2nd round of the fight. Cote will not get an immediate rematch that many have talked about. He is likely at least a couple of big fights wins away from getting another crack at Silva.
